CSR is an inseparable part of our daily strategy. More than a responsibility shared by all companies, it feeds into all of our decisions. It lights our way year after year and enables us to meet our many challenges: health and energy crises, climate change, international strife, digitisation, etc.
In our commitment to the environment, we are already one step ahead. Our actions have led to real, identifiable successes in 2024. On the roads, we have increased our use of electric vehicles thanks to a promising and ambitious partnership with Volta Trucks, which has enabled us to acquire 16 new vehicles.
What future are we aiming to build for our company ?
As we celebrate our centenary this year, this question is central to our reflections. Our enduring conviction is clear: Heppner must be an agent of change and actively participate in the environmental, social, and societal challenges we face. Driven by a commitment to action in our daily operations, we strive to achieve the objectives outlined in our CSR roadmap. These ambitious goals are a natural progression of the momentum we have built up over the years.
Firstly, 2024 saw an acceleration of our energy transition. To reduce our CO2 emissions and better protect the environment, we further evolved our energy mix and incorporated new sources. With initiatives ranging from biofuels and clean mobility to electric vehicles, in partnership with ADEME we took initial steps to introduce electric lorries. These ongoing efforts extend and reinforce our past initiatives, laying a solid foundation for future progress.
In 2024, taking care of our employees remained a priority. To foster a cohesive corporate culture across our global presence, we have continued to build bridges between our teams, as exemplified by initiatives like the Heppner University. Our dedication has been recognised with Great Place to Work certification in three new markets, bringing our total to nine certified countries This is a true testament to our commitment to our employees who are at the very heart of our strategy.
Finally, our commitment to those in need was stronger than ever in 2024. Beyond our role as an economic player, we continued to champion entrepreneurship in service of just causes. Through our ongoing partnerships with Emmaüs Défi, Magie à l’Hôpital, the Banques Alimentaires, and now Surfrider, alongside numerous local associations, we more than ever stood firmly alongside those who act daily to build a better society.
As we celebrate 100 years of Heppner’s history, each success of our CSR policy propels us further towards the future we want to build for our company, our society and our planet. This ambition, fuelled by the unwavering commitment of our employees, is firmly rooted in our DNA. With this same objective guiding us, we will continue to prioritise corporate responsibility.
Heppner measures its carbon emissions to the industry’s most comprehensive standards and acts on all emission scopes in line with its decarbonisation plan, defined in 2021. Its decarbonisation track records will be submitted for SBTi validation in 2025.
Heppner has been diversifying the energy mix of its vehicle fleet since 2019. This gradual transition is bearing fruit, as today 57% of the Group’s heavy goods vehicles use alternative energy sources (70% in France).
Since 2019, Heppner has committed its partners to a joint process for reducing CO2 emissions: the Energy Transition Pact. Heppner is now taking this strategy worldwide.
The complementarity of rail and river freight with road transport offers a competitive, high-performance transport alternative, in line with a sustainable approach based on ambitious regulatory objectives.
Committed to reducing its carbon impact, Heppner has put in place an energy sobriety plan in recent years, while continuing to renovate its facilities and buildings and optimise their energy efficiency.
As part of a continuous improvement initiative, Heppner organised “Eco-Driving Games” in 2024 in all its French branches. This challenge enables the company to monitor driving behaviour and improve fuel consumption indicators.
Particularly well-suited to last-mile delivery in dense city centres, cargo bike solutions are being developed in response to the constraints imposed by cities to ease traffic congestion.
Launched in 2021, Heppner’s voluntary drive for the integration of disabled people is based on 3 main areas monitored by the Group’s disability community: recognition of disability, implementation of conditions for maintaining employment, and active recruitment. Continuing from the initial agreement, the new disability agreement has been signed for the period 2024-2026.
Heppner makes room for all talents, ensuring that everyone is able to join the team, develop their skills and advance their career, regardless of their initial background.
The supplier experience is strategic for Heppner, as it fosters long-term partnerships. It is built around four priorities, whose effectiveness is assessed every year to optimise quality.
Guided by the growing demands of e-commerce and societal expectations in terms of service quality, Heppner is strengthening its commitment to providing an optimised customer experience. In 2024, its Net Promoter Score (NPS) once again reported a significant increase, testifying to increased customer satisfaction and the effectiveness of the actions put in place.
The degradation of ecosystems and the loss of biodiversity are major challenges for the future. Convinced of the need to act to reconcile the preservation of living beings with economic development, the Heppner Group is committed to working alongside recognised players in the field.
Social commitment is part of Heppner’s DNA. Local charity initiatives are encouraged, shared and developed by the Group, with the support of the CSR department and its network of representatives.
